Free community event for Newark-Area Youth brings tennis, education and international cultural exchange to Newark's Althea Gibson Tennis Center
NEWARK, N.J. - JerseyDesk -- The Althea Gibson Sports & Education Foundation (AGSEF) and Rally4Ever Australia will bring Newark-area youth together Friday for an End of Summer Rally, a free tennis and educational experience designed for children ages 9–14.
The event will give participating youth an opportunity to get on the court with Rally4Ever Australia while also learning about Australian culture and experiencing elements of AGSEF's ALTHEA education program. The collaboration demonstrates how tennis can serve as a bridge between young people, communities and cultures around the world.
The rally comes just days after the 99th anniversary of Althea Gibson's birth on August 25, as AGSEF begins the countdown toward the centennial of the Newark trailblazer's birth in 2027.
WHAT:
End of Summer Rally presented by the Althea Gibson Sports & Education Foundation x Rally4Ever Australia, featuring tennis, education, international cultural exchange, back-to-school items and youth giveaways.
