CAMDEN, N.J. ~ The American Water Charitable Foundation, a non-profit organization established by American Water, the largest regulated water and wastewater utility company in the U.S., has recently announced the launch of their 2024 Water and Environment Grant Program. This program aims to support projects that promote clean water, conservation, environmental education, climate variability, and water-based recreation.
The Foundation is dedicated to three pillars of giving - Water, People, and Communities. In order to make the grant process more efficient for their community partners, the Foundation has combined their previous Environmental Grant Program with the Water and Environment Grant Program. This strategic integration will allow for a stronger focus on charitable initiatives and a greater impact across American Water's footprint.
In 2023, the American Water Charitable Foundation awarded over $1 million in grants to organizations located in communities served by American Water. One of these recipients was Upstream Alliance, which received funding for their Solar-Electric Education Vessel project. This vessel will serve as a floating classroom in Camden, New Jersey, providing on-water education experiences for underserved students.
