OAKLAND, N.J., Nov. 20, 2024 ~ Amerlux, a leading lighting company under the Delta Group, has announced plans to install a 1.525 MW rooftop solar system at its global headquarters and manufacturing facility. This move is in line with Amerlux's commitment to achieving Net Zero Energy and establishing itself as a leader in sustainable lighting in the United States.

The project is set to begin in late 2024 and be completed by 2025. It aligns with Amerlux's goal of decarbonizing its 200,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in Oakland, New Jersey, following in the footsteps of its parent company, Delta Electronics, which has already achieved this feat at its Americas headquarters in Fremont, California.

According to Amerlux CEO Chuck Campagna, the company aims to become the first U.S. lighting company to achieve Net Zero Energy across its entire operation by meeting 100% of its energy demand through on-site renewable sources. This initiative not only supports Amerlux's long-term sustainability goals but also demonstrates their dedication to creating a greener future for generations to come. By harnessing solar power, they are taking a significant step towards reducing their carbon footprint and setting an example for the rest of the lighting industry.

The solar project is part of Amerlux's three-step sustainability plan and is expected to deliver annual energy savings that will cover 100% of the facility's electricity needs. It is also projected to eliminate approximately 580 metric tons of CO2 emissions each year. The solar panels will cover an area of 180,000 square feet on the facility's roof and generate around 1.9 million kWh annually.

In addition to the solar installation, Amerlux plans to upgrade its HVAC system with advanced sensors and controls from Delta Group companies Delta Controls and LOYTEC. This will further enhance energy efficiency and optimize performance on an annual basis. By prioritizing sustainability efforts like these, Amerlux not only meets customer demands for eco-friendly practices but also showcases the commitment of both Amerlux and Delta to global sustainability.

The solar installation will also incorporate Delta's Next-Gen 60kW inverters, which will significantly reduce Amerlux's carbon footprint and save the company approximately $200,000 annually. This aligns with Delta Group's Internal Carbon Pricing (ICP) strategy, which charges $300 per metric ton of CO2e emissions. By implementing ICP, Delta encourages projects like Amerlux's solar installation to reduce operational emissions and invest in renewable energy sources, furthering their mission to create a sustainable, low-carbon future.
