Battery recycling & recycling technology company Battery Pollution joins the GPML - reinforcing its commitment to removing corroding battery waste from oceans and waterways
SYDNEY - JerseyDesk -- Battery recycling and battery recycling technology startup Battery Pollution today announced that it had joined the Global Partnership on Marine Litter.
Corroding batteries leak toxic chemicals into our lakes, river systems and oceans. Chemicals in landfills can form what are often called "soups" which are solutions at the base of the landfill loaded with toxic chemicals and materials. The damage to our planet is simply catastrophic" Nicholas Assef, Battery Pollution's CEO & Founder stated.
The issue goes beyond toxic solutions entering waterways. The Guardian reported on 6 March 2022 instances of octopuses using waste batteries to lay eggs within and as such raising the potential of those eggs being exposed to heavy metals and harmful chemicals.
