TOMS RIVER, N.J. - JerseyDesk -- CONTACT of Ocean and Monmouth Counties (CONTACT) is pleased to announce an upcoming Volunteer Orientation and Crisis Intervention Training session, set to begin on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. The training will be held twice a week for six weeks, every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM. The in-person sessions will take place at Christ Episcopal Church, located at 415 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ 08753.
CONTACT is a vital resource for individuals of all ages in crisis, offering support through compassionate listening and guidance. As CONTACT continues to provide this essential service, the organization is seeking dedicated volunteers who are passionate about making a difference in their community. "Our training program equips volunteers with the skills necessary to support individuals in need effectively," stated Kim Santora, Executive Director of CONTACT.
The foundation of CONTACT's training program is the development of active listening skills. This essential skill allows volunteers to truly "hear" individuals without imposing their own judgments or advice. By mastering active listening, volunteers not only enhance their ability to support callers but also gain valuable interpersonal skills that can positively impact their personal and professional lives.
