Hinchliffe Stadium Restoration Receives $500,000 Save America's Treasures Grant

PATERSON, N.J. - JerseyDesk -- Life Management, Inc. (LMI) announced it has received a $500,000 grant from the Department of Interior, National Park Service ("NPS") through the Historic Preservation Fund and the Save America's Treasures grant program to support the ongoing rehabilitation of Hinchliffe Stadium, a nationally significant historic landmark in Paterson, NJ.

Hinchliffe Stadium was one of only eighty projects nationwide selected to receive funding in this highly competitive grant cycle, representing a total of $24.25 million awarded across the United States. With these funds, organizations, agencies, and their partners can conserve significant cultural and historic resources of the United States, which illustrate, interpret, and are associated with the great events, ideas, and individuals that contribute to our nation's history.

The funding supports critical restoration work at Hinchliffe Stadium including much needed repairs to masonry and concrete elements throughout the structure. These improvements are part of the broader Hinchliffe Stadium Neighborhood Restoration Project (HSNRP), a comprehensive mixed-use community redevelopment initiative centered on the preservation and adaptive reuse of the historic stadium, which is located within Paterson Great Falls National Historical Park.

Once abandoned for decades, Hinchliffe Stadium has been revitalized as a multi-use sports and events venue, serving the Paterson community and the greater region while honoring its legacy as one of the most important remaining Negro League baseball stadiums in the country. The restoration ensures the long-term structural integrity of the stadium while preserving its historic character for future generations.

The Save America's Treasures grant reflects continued federal, state, and local collaboration to protect nationally significant resources and underscores the importance of investing in historic preservation as a catalyst for community revitalization.
