EAST ORANGE, N.J. - JerseyDesk -- Monique M. Lewis, MBA, has officially made history.
Elected as the first Jamaican American woman to lead the East Orange Chamber of Commerce, Lewis's story is more than a win—it's a powerful reminder of what's possible when purpose meets preparation.
"It's humbling," Lewis says. "To return to the same community that welcomed me as a child and now serve it at this level—it means everything."
Born in Jamaica and raised in East Orange after immigrating with her family as a young girl, Monique still remembers the flight that changed everything. "I looked out the window, saw all the lights, and thought, 'Wow.' But landing was just the beginning of my journey."
Now, that journey has come full circle.
As a certified woman- and minority-owned consulting firm, and the founder and CEO of MML Consulting Group, LLC, Monique has spent more than a decade helping small businesses and nonprofits modernize operations, implement ERP systems, and scale sustainably. With an MBA in Supply Chain and Operations Management from Southern New Hampshire University (earned May 2025), she blends tech expertise with community passion and leads with unshakable vision.

Leading With Heart and Hustle
Monique's rise wasn't without resistance. "There were whispers—I don't think she can do it," she says. "But that fueled me. I leaned on faith, strategy, and the values my Jamaican parents and grandparents instilled in me."
