Newark CTE Network Selects Healthcare Chair

NEWARK, N.J. - JerseyDesk -- Dr. Gene Napoliello to Chair Healthcare Committee for Newark CTE Network

Dr. Gene Napoliello, State Advisor for NJ HOSA (Health Occupations Students of America) has been named Chair of the Healthcare Committee for the Newark Career Technical Education Network. Dr. Napoliello practiced general dentistry from 1972 to 2000 in Bloomfield, NJ. A native of Newark, NJ, Dr. Napoliello is the past chairman of the Essex County Dental Society's education committee, where he established the annual dental assistant scholarship for high school students. Dr. Gene is a former member of the New Jersey Dental Associations' Council on Education and past trustee to the House of Delegates. Dr. Gene and colleagues help establish five high school dental assistant programs in Essex County: Bloomfield, Newark Tech, Nutley, Montclair and Central High School where he serves on the school's advisory committee. He currently serves as Chairman of the Board for the Dental of New Jersey Foundation. He is a life member of the American Dental Association and helped establish the Rutgers School of Medicine Dental Assistant Internship Program in 2000 for Newark Tech and Central High School.  In 2017, Dr. Gene in collaboration with NJ Dental Association and Zufall Health Center established the "Smiles for Our Heroes Program" a free dental clinic for veterans at the Dover Center.  In his role as Chair of the Healthcare Committee Dr. Gene will focus on expanding structured learning opportunities for the Allied Health programs and to supporting the schools in expanding career pathways for the students enrolled in Allied Health programs and working to build partnerships between education and industry.

The Newark Career and Technical Education (CTE) Network brings together CTE educators and professionals across sectors, along with industry leaders, to develop shared, Newark-centric articulation of CTE. The CTE Network targets secondary and post-secondary education tracks, focuses on programming, practice and policy in a meaningful way in order to improve post-graduation outcomes and opportunities.
