LAKEWOOD, N.J. - JerseyDesk -- Baseball has a magical way of opening the flood gates of childhood memories – playing catch with a friend, pickup games in the street, an entire stadium erupting into The Wave, all while cheering for your favorite players with complete strangers in seats next to you. The camaraderie that develops in the stands is something often lacking in society once the cars leave the parking lot. Unity, teamwork, and collaboration are keys to winning on the field, and even more necessary to tackling life's greatest challenges. This is what parallels the mission of Ocean Partnership for Children (OPC) to the dynamics and beauty of baseball. It takes a community of committed and passionate individuals to enhance the wellbeing of all involved, specifically for the youth and families of Ocean County; as OPC has been doing this day in and day out for the last 19 years.

The partnership between OPC and the Jersey Shore Blue Claws will be highlighted this Friday at the 7:05 pm game. Friday's game will be an opportunity for the local community to come out to support the Ocean County Care Management Organization (OPC) and the 1000+ youth currently being served. Following the game, there will be a fireworks display for all attendees! (Did we mention that it's also Marvel Superhero Night at the stadium!?)
OPC provides care management to youth in Ocean County through its contract with the NJ Children's System of Care. The mission of OPC is to enhance the well being of youth and families through community and natural supports, through a strength-based Wraparound model of best practice. OPC works with youth up until the age of 21 who may experience challenges at home, school or in their community. OPC's services are provided free of charge, with a focus on creating and sustaining a Child Family Team around the youth. Since inception, OPC has provided Wraparound support to over 8,000 youth residing in Ocean County. OPC's services include Care Management, Intellectual/Developmental Disability resource navigation, Girls Empowerment Group, Boys Social Emotional Learning Group, Your Authentic Self (LGBTQ support group), Connections I/DD Support Group, an annual Domestic Violence Vigil, amongst other ad-hoc activities and events based on the community's needs.
