WARETOWN, N.J. - JerseyDesk -- SafeTec Training Services, in partnership with Sea Tow Central NJ and the Waretown Volunteer Fire Company, is proud to present the Reel in a Heartbeat Ed Conner Memorial Event on March 31, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the Waretown Volunteer Fire Company in Waretown, NJ. This free event is open to the public and will provide expert instruction in adult CPR techniques, with an overview of Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use. All proceeds will benefit the Gift of Life Donor Program in honor of Edmond "Ed" Conner, a cherished fisherman, friend, and family man.
Do You Know CPR?
Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) occurs approximately 350,000 times each year outside of hospitals, and survival is only possible with early recognition, bystander CPR, and the prompt use of an AED. The Reel in a Heartbeat event serves to raise awareness about this critical issue while honoring Ed's memory. On September 14, 2024, Ed tragically passed away after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest while fishing offshore. His crew, who had been trained in CPR, performed lifesaving measures for over two hours until rescue teams arrived. Although Ed's event wasn't survivable, his crew's quick and effective response gave him the best chance possible.
