Introducing the E-COOLPAC electric genset -- launched as part of a collaborative pilot program that includes SeaCube, Greensee, CMA CGM and ThermoKing
MONTVALE, N.J. - JerseyDesk -- SeaCube, a global leader in refrigerated intermodal equipment leasing, has partnered with Greensee to introduce cutting-edge solutions that aim to revolutionize sustainability in the refrigerated transport sector. This collaboration debuts SeaCube's Green and Net-Zero Reefer Leases, powered by Greensee's AI-driven CO2 emissions reporting technology. Together, these initiatives set a new benchmark for energy efficiency and environmental responsibility in cold chain logistics, helping businesses meet stringent sustainability goals while improving operational efficiency.
SeaCube is also collaborating with Thermo King® and CMA CGM to field-test Thermo King's E-COOLPAC electric genset, one of the first battery-powered gensets for refrigerated containers in the United States. This zero-emission technology represents a key step in electrifying last-mile refrigerated transport (excluding truck power), contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions across the supply chain. The E-COOLPAC genset is designed to fit or retrofit to marine container chassis, offering power modules ranging from 35kWh to 105kWh. The technology features zero CO2 and particulate emissions during operation and is compatible with Thermo King refrigeration units as well as other ISO1496-2 reefer units, further reducing the industry's reliance on traditional diesel power.

SeaCube's Green Reefer Leases are designed to enhance energy and emissions efficiency, offering refrigerated containers equipped with next-generation controllers, advanced telematics, and energy-efficient compressors. Real-time data analytics optimize refrigeration operations, accounting for factors such as cargo type, ambient temperature, and tradelane, delivering energy savings and emissions reductions of up to 20%. The Green Reefer Leases provide tangible sustainability benefits while reducing operational costs.
In addition, SeaCube's Net-Zero Reefer Leases enable customers to offset any remaining carbon emissions through carbon credits, supporting environmental initiatives like reforestation. This initiative allows businesses to neutralize their emissions and align their operations with broader sustainability goals.
Pacific International Lines (PIL) is also participating in a pilot program sponsored by SeaCube and Greensee, focusing on GHG reporting and reefer fleet optimization. This initiative aims to establish baseline metrics for decarbonization and identify opportunities for fuel savings and operational efficiency, supporting PIL's long-term goal of achieving net-zero GHG emissions by 2050.
