BEDMINSTER, N.J. - JerseyDesk -- The Center for Contemporary Art ("The Center") is pleased to announce three solo exhibitions on view through June 3.
Tracy DiTolla: Tragic Flaws presents the work of Tracy DiTolla who currently resides in northern New Jersey and chairs the art and graphic design departments at Warren County College. DiTolla explains, "I am interested in the use of disturbing and surreal imagery; visual storytelling and symbols derived from Catholicism and reinterpreted in imaginative and domestic spaces." She received her BA in art history from William Paterson University, her MA in art history and her MFA in studio art from Montclair University. DiTolla's current work is primarily done in oil on canvas and her influences include Baroque and Surreal art as well as film noir.
Steven Epstein: The Pedestrian Absurd exhibits the work of Steven Epstein. Epstein grew up in the New York area and now lives in New Jersey. He considers himself a semi-educated artist in that he's taken classes at places like the Art Students League and the School of Visual Arts in Manhattan but doesn't have any degrees in art. He does much of his learning through work. His work often has a gritty feel reflecting an interest in noir and jazz. He shares, "My current paintings are a movement away from past representational work based on direct experience. Retirement, COVID, and the sociopolitical environment have bent me inwards. You see things differently when you're walking than when you're hustling to keep up." His current work also includes the additional use of collage materials to his acrylic painting.

Gregory Hennen: Where I Wander showcases the work of Gregory Hennen a landscape painter whose work is inspired by his extensive time spent in nature which included 15 years as the property manager for Manitou Point Nature Preserve in Garrison, NY. While there he was responsible for designing and maintaining over 4 miles of trails along the Hudson River property. He explains, "The organization of space, essentiality of color and quality of light fascinate me. Depicting the natural world in its exactness is not what I do. Instead, my work reflects what I see and how I feel over time." Hennen earned his BFA from Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic, CT. His work has been shown nationally, including group exhibitions at the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art, Huntsville Museum of Art, University of Southern Mississippi and the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts & Sciences. His work is in the public collections of Pfizer Inc., Greenwich Public Library, Greenwich, CT and in numerous private collections. He lives and works in Virginia.
