"In East Orange, we believe in creating a thriving environment where small businesses don't just survive—they lead the way in driving innovation and community impact," said Mayor Ted R. Green. "This partnership with Thrive Leadership Institute is another example of how we're investing in our local entrepreneurs and ensuring they have access to the tools, training, and opportunities they need to succeed right here in our city."
"We are proud to offer this boots-on-the-ground, results-oriented program," said Anna D. Banks. "Each workshop is intentionally designed to meet the real challenges faced by East Orange's entrepreneurs. We're helping them make informed decisions, build confidence, and tap into strategic resources that will move their businesses forward."
Alycia Cohen, Director of Policy, Planning & Development, emphasized the city's strong commitment to inclusive economic development. "Our department is deeply invested in ensuring small businesses—especially those led by women, people of color, and first-time entrepreneurs—receive access to high-quality training and technical assistance," she said. "Thrive Leadership Institute has been an incredible partner in making that vision a reality. We believe that strong small businesses are the foundation of a strong East Orange."
Mark Cheatam, Manager of Economic Development, echoed that sentiment. "This curriculum is more than just educational content—it's a roadmap to sustainability and empowerment," Cheatam stated. "By helping entrepreneurs understand compliance, funding, marketing, and hiring in a local context, we're preparing them to take full advantage of city and state resources. That's the kind of support that leads to lasting economic impact."
