HOLMDEL, N.J. ~ Holmdel, N.J. - Vonage, a leading provider of cloud communications and a subsidiary of Ericsson (NASDAQ: ERIC), has announced a new collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to bring innovative solutions to millions of AWS developers through AWS Marketplace.

This partnership will combine Vonage's platform, which utilizes communication APIs and network APIs to connect with communications service provider networks, with Ericsson's 5G network capabilities and AWS services. The goal is to create a suite of solutions that will empower customers to utilize the network for innovation and enhance the overall customer experience.

Kathrin Renz, Vice President of AWS Industries, expressed excitement about the collaboration stating, "AWS and Vonage share a common goal of helping customers drive innovation and value. By working together, we aim to develop new industrial and enterprise applications across various industries that leverage 5G networks and technologies like generative artificial intelligence."

According to Omdia's Cybersecurity Decision Maker Survey 2023, 92% of organizations experienced a security incident or breach in the past year. Additionally, imposter scams resulted in $2.6 billion in losses in the US alone in 2022, as reported by the Federal Trade Commission. With fraud risk on the rise for businesses, it has become crucial to find ways to mitigate these risks.

To address this issue, Vonage will be launching their Fraud Protection solution on AWS Marketplace. This solution will include their CAMARA-based* API SIM Swap (currently in alpha), Fraud Defender solution enhanced by AWS generative AI services, as well as Verify and Number Insights APIs paired with Amazon Rekognition. This update is just one example of how Vonage plans to utilize network APIs to bring powerful solutions to market.

One notable feature of this solution is the SIM Swap network API which allows developers to determine if a phone number has recently changed SIM cards due to fraudulent activity. Additionally, Vonage's enhanced Fraud Defender API will proactively detect fraud signals, while the Verify API allows for secure silent authentication and the Number Insights API provides Fraud Scoring capabilities.

The fraud detection capabilities of this solution will be further strengthened by incorporating AWS generative AI services. This will enable businesses to better protect themselves from mobile fraud while also improving the customer experience.

Niklas Heuveldop, Vonage CEO and Head of Business Area Global Communications Platform for Ericsson, commented on the collaboration saying, "By working with AWS, we will accelerate our ability to embed communications and network APIs in applications and deliver new product offerings for AWS and Vonage customers. With network APIs, we are exposing new capabilities from within the 5G network that have never been available before, allowing existing applications to be enhanced with network information and enabling the development of a new class of applications."
