USA Air Management is reminding Freehold Borough and Freehold Township homeowners that November's colder, damper weeks mean longer dryer cycles, and that a quick airflow check can reveal a clogged vent before it becomes a safety problem.
JerseyDesk -- FREEHOLD, NJ - As New Jersey settles into late fall, USA Air Management, a dryer vent cleaning New Jersey company serving Monmouth County since 1996, is encouraging Freehold households to look past the lint screen and check the full length of their dryer vent before the holiday laundry rush.
Shorter days, wet jackets, heavy blankets and visiting guests all add loads to the week. When lint collects inside the duct that runs from the dryer to the outside wall or roof, warm, moist air has nowhere to go. Clothes take two or three cycles to dry, the laundry room feels humid, and the machine runs hotter than it was designed to.

"Most people we meet in Freehold clean the lint trap after every load and assume the job is done," said a representative of USA Air Management. "The trap only catches part of it. The rest settles in the vent line, especially in long runs, tight elbows and roof exits. Measuring the airflow tells us right away whether the vent is breathing or choking."
The company points to a few warning signs homeowners can spot on their own: drying times that keep getting longer, a dryer or laundry room that feels unusually hot, a burning or musty smell, lint gathering around the outside vent flap, or a flap that barely opens while the dryer is running.
Technicians serving Freehold, from older homes near the historic downtown to newer developments off Route 9, clean the entire vent with a rotary brush and a high-pressure blower, then record a written inspection covering airflow, vent length and size, duct material, the number of turns and the condition of the exterior vent. Condominium and HOA residents can request a written certificate for their association records.
